Summary Of Job Description:
Review the urban population growth in urban areas (cities and towns) in Pacific island countries, focusing on the potential link of the urban space expansion, population concentration/ de-concentration and economic development and the influencing factors. Review the urban/water projects in PARD to identify (i) how ADB has covered the urban population growth in both formal and informal settling areas, and (ii) what we can do to better facilitate the infrastructure need in high urban population growth cities and integrate the small towns into big city development. from the best practice and what is the recommendation for application in PAUW projects.
What you will do
The intern is expected to do a desk review on urban population analysis and experience in ADB financed projects. This study will: (i) review the urban population growth in Pacific islands cities and towns and the driving forces; (ii) outline any key impacts or potential issues; (iii) review ADB financed projects to identify lessons learned, and how to better support urban infrastructure; (iv) carry out interviews with ADB project team leaders to see their opinions on the areas for improvement; and (vi) draft recommendations for ADB to better facilitate the infrastructure need in high urban population growth cities.
Required Skills and Abilities
Masters or PhD candidate in Town Planning or urban Spatial Planning.
Relevant Experience And Other Requirements:
Preferred area of experience: urban development/planning, urban infrastructure planning and delivery experience. Speaking and writing fluent English, good at communication and writing.
