Data Engineer Intern

The Programme

The Data Engineer Intern will be responsible for the development, transformation, and ongoing quality management of business data objects sourced from a wide range of internal/external systems with differing storage types.  
 
The vision of the Data Management & Analytics (DMA) team is Data Democratization: Partner with our customers to deliver curated information and make value-driven decisions. 
 
A Day in The Life Typically Includes:

• Assist in maintenance of required infrastructure for optimal ETL/ELT from various data sources using cloud and non-cloud technologies. 
• Work with project sponsors and Data Analyst team to document use cases, identify KPIs that can be sourced from available data, and provide feedback and updates on progress and challenges. 
• Respond timely to issues raised either via system notification or user notice. 
• Assist Data Analyst team as needed in building visualizations/dashboards. 
• Maintain security of published data. 
• Contribute to the overall operational improvement of the DMA team by participating in improvement projects, ensuring standard processes are implemented, and identifying new areas to improve.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Currently enrolled in a degree program or course related to Information Technology. 
• Previous experience with SQL. 
• Understanding of data modeling and the ETL (extract, transform, and load) Process. 
• Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.

What Will Put You Ahead? 
 
Preferred Qualifications:

• Academic knowledge or experience in Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools (e.g. Birst, Tableau, Domo, TIBCO Spotfire, or Microsoft Power BI). 
• Academic experience with AWS Cloud. 
• Academic experience in coding using Python. 
• Academic experience in Jira.
